Principles of Inclusive Communication: An information and self-assessment tool for public authorities

This document has just been published by the Scottish Government.  It contains six principles for promoting inclusive communication and provides links to guidance and other information.  It includes a self-assessment tool for public authorities to test how they are doing.

Inclusive Communication is one of the four priorities in the Independent Living Programme workplan.  This document is part of the work of the Scottish Governement to fulfil the desired outcomes under this priority.

What happens next?

The Scottish Government have funded Communication Forum Scotland to work with the Improvement Service Scotland.  Together they will promote this document and use their expertise to help public authorities understand the importance of inclusive communication.  This will help to ensure people with communication support needs can use their services and participate as active citizens in the development of policy and service delivery improvement.
